Week 5 - So far, not so good

So I am on week 5 of my pregnancy and have already gained 3 lbs since my weigh in on Saturday.  I have been eating pretty healthy, but I am down to almost no exercise.  I’m sure that is to blame for the gain even though I am bloated as hell and my boobs feel like 2 bowling balls attached to my chest.

I did get up early to help my fiance with the work (he’s been letting me take most of the day off everyday) and walked two dogs for 30 minutes each, so I got my goal of an hour in today, I’ll just have to keep that up.  If I feel up to it, I’ll probably take our dog for a nice walk tonight when it cools off some.

Have a good one buddies!

My road to weightloss has taken a little detour

But it is happening for a very good reason: I recently found out I’m pregnant :)  So instead of trying to lose weight, I will now be focusing more on not gaining any more than I have to, and getting rid of some bad habits.  This will include: eating well balanced meals, exercising daily, cutting out diet sodas (this is a toughie) and drinking more water (another toughie).

I will admit though, I am a little frusterated with the fact that I am 40 lbs overweight and pregnant.  I know I shouldn’t be, but I delivered my first child at what I weigh now, so it’s a little scary for me to think about how huge I will get!  Maybe it’s just my hormones making my emotions run wild, lol!  I have known for about a week now and have already gained two lbs due to my bingeing (Though I would like to think it’s really beacuse of my new huge boobs!)  I am looking at this as an opportunity to eat whatever I want and that is very unhealthy. I am sure to blow up that way!  I was reading that the average pregnant woman only needs about 300 extra calories a day to nourish her baby and this is only in the second and third trimesters.  So I am going to try and stay within my maintaining range of calories and lessen my cardio some.  I will try that for a week or two, make sure I’m not losing or gaining too much and than adjust accordingly.

 Have a nice weekend buddies!

Curves, Exhaustion & Killing the Judge’s Plants…

Well I finished the fitness study at Curves and even though I did not have good results, I am not disappointed.  I know I did the best I could while I was there, but what I am really proud of is the fact that I finally stuck with something.  I have quit so many things in my life: school, diets, etc.  But this I did not quit, and I went to Curves faithfully 3 times a week for 4 weeks straight.

As far as my results go:  GAINED 3/4 of a lb!  And only lost a total of 2 inches.  According to my scale though, I lost two lbs so I am going by that one.  I weigh in once a week, the same time, without clothes on the same digital scale.  They have the doctors scale, which I weigh in with my clothes on obviously.  I don’t trust that one :)  I know I would have seen much better results if I had eaten a little better and done better on my cardio, but ya live & ya learn right?

I am feeling very burnt out this week.  I cannot even remember the last time I had a day off.  I have been staying overnight pet/house sitting for a local judge for the last 8 days and its definitely taking its toll on me.  Not that the job is extremely hard or anything, I guess its just all the running around.  And I think I killed one of his plants!  It has started to turn brown.  Not sure what I did wrong, I have been watering it everyday as instructed, but he has had that thing for about 20 years!  So I am worried about that which is not helping with being exhausted.

In other news, I have been faithfully following the walking challenge and am amazed that I have done 25 miles in 5 days!  I wonder how much I did if I counted all the miles of walking dogs I do everyday?  Maybe I’ll keep track today…

Did pretty well today

Got up early today thanks to all my buddies and fellow BS that commented on my last blog :)  The advice you gave was great and I thought about your comments as I was pushing snooze.  Yes, I did push it today, but only once.

I was out of the house by 6:30 for my first appointment and finished by 7.  I took my dog with me so as soon as I pulled into the driveway, we could hop out and begin our walk.  Did 2.5 miles and then headed back so I could get to Curves.

I got bored this afternoon and went for a bike ride.  I rode the route that I walked this morning so I could see how many miles it was with my odometer.  So I did 2.5 miles.  I wanted to do more, but my asthma was really bothering me.  It’s been a long time since I rode and my lungs are out of shape.

Did another 3.6 miles with the dog after dinner.  She has been so neglected lately, I’m hoping this will help both of us.

I am in my 3rd week of the Curves/Avon Fitness Study and I’m feeling frusterated.  The program is only 4 weeks long and I have not lost any weight and my clothes do not fit any better.  This is mainly because I have not been doing well on my diet.  They don’t tell you to eat certain things, but they do recommend a healthy diet to see maximum results.  My final session/weigh in/measurements will be on the 6th and I am worried that I will have zero change and be humiliated.  I wanted to really impress them.  So, I am on a mission for the next week 1/2 to stay focused.

How do I become a “Morning Person”?

I really want to be one of those people I see walking/jogging/biking through my neighborhood at 6 am every morning.  I mean they are everywhere here!  Some running in groups or walking their dogs.  I want to have that kind of dedication. And pretty much every night I say that I will get up early the next day I end up hitting snooze for 2 hours.  By then I have to get ready for work and it is too late to get anything done.  I’m frusterated and need motivation.

I have hit a plateau in my weightloss and need to work on my cardio more.  I have not lost (or gained) any weight in over 3 weeks.  I started strength training at Curves 2 weeks ago so I’m hoping that, along with more cardio will do it.

Reasons I want to exercise in the AM:

  1. When I workout in the morning, I tend to eat healthier for the rest of the day.
  2. Its too hot to workout at any other time here in FL.
  3. My puppy really needs to be walked first thing in the morning. (She is a GREAT walking buddy and can easily do 3 -4 miles with me)
  4. My family will all be asleep still, so I can focus only on myself (and the puppy)
  5. I will be able to get more out of my morning if I am up early.

Looking forward to the weekend

It’s been such a rough week for me.  I’ve had a 6 am appointment everyday this week, 3 new client consultations, and of course the 8-12 dog walks I do every afternoon. On top of that, I have all the other demands of running a small business: paperwork, phone calls, e-mails, scheduling appointments, payng bills, etc.  How I’ve managed to stay on track is beyond me, but I’m doing it and damn proud of myself.  Normally when I am this busy, I am quick to head through a drive-thru for something to stuff my face with, but not this time.

I am soooo looking forward to some down time this weekend.  I am still going to be pretty busy, I have 4 clients out of town and 3 vists a day each.  But I am hoping my fiance will pick up most of them. I have been letting him sleep in all week :) I really just want to relax and hang out with the kids, maybe work on my tan and a good book while they play in the sprinkler.

Exercise has been going well.  I took our puppy on a three mile walk last night and have been to Curves twice so far.  I am thinking I will bike to some of my appointments today.  I am hoping for a big loss this weekend!

In other news, I am wearing my TOM panties this week and they are too big!!!  I have lost 8 lbs since I had to wear them last month.  Yay!

This week should be better

I have been off track the last couple of weeks and am feeling the urge to get started again.  The good news is that I didn’t gain anything during this time, but it has pushed my back further in reaching my mini goal of 160 (12 lb loss) by 06/05.

I started back on my eating plan on Sunday and all has been well since then.  I have not been exercising, but will get started on that today.  I did go to my first Curves appointment yesterday and it was really fun.  I signed up for the Curves/Avon fitness challenge and am required to visit Curves 3 times a week, so that will be my strength training each week.  Now I just have to get back into my cardio routine again.  I was telling the lady at Curves yesterday that I walk anywhere from 5-9 miles a day for work (I own a pet sitting/dog walking company) and that I just don’t understand why I can’t lose weight.  She told me that she had the same problem when she hit 30 and then she started strength training and the weight just fell off.  So hopefully that will happen to me also.

So here are my goals for the rest of the week:

  • Walk my dog 3 miles x5 days (poor baby has been so neglected lately)
  • Bike 30 minutes x2 days
  • Curves x2 days
  • Ab workout x2 days
  • Water

Curves/Avon Fitness Study?

Has anyone signed up for this?  I am doing my evaluation on Monday.  I haven’t used Curves before, but have always thought about trying.  I need something to hold me accountable, and signing up may help.

I would like some feedback on Curves and your progress if any of you are members there.

Thanks!

This Weeks Goals…

So I had an okay week, could have been better, but definitely could of been worse.  I am trying to drop 13 lbs in the next 6 weeks for my daughters Pre-K graduation.  Thats my mini goal.  So I need all my Rockstar teammates & my buddies to stay on me :)

  • Walk/Run 3 Miles x 4 Days
  • Workout DVD x 3 Days
  • More Water/Less Diet Pepsi
  • Do My Rockstar Challenges Daily

So far, so good!

So my official weigh in day is on Sunday, but I weighed today anyways and am happy to announce that I am down 3 more lbs!!  So that is a total of 7lbs lost in 10 days.  Seems like a little too much, but I am sure it will not be like this every week (not that I don’t want it to be)  I ran into one of my clients today and she commented that I had lost :)  Isn’t that such a good feeling?  Definitely keeps me motivated!

I am still trying to get situated with a workout schedule.  Last week I did really well, but I didn’t have any early morning appointments, (I own a pet sitting/dog walking company) so it was fairly easy.  But for the next 2 weeks I have a 7:15 am appointment, so I will have to adjust a little.  My workout really consists of running/walking with my german shepherd puppy Layla.  We usually do 3 miles in the morning, and then walk 2 miles after dinner.  I have also started doing a Jillian Micheals video that I found ON DEMAND.  I am aiming for 3x a week for that.  I also need to start riding my bike again.  My oldest daughter and I went for a very short ride on Sunday and my butt is still hurting from the seat!  I will have to get used to it though because biking has always helped me lose in the past, plus its sooo much fun!

Did excellent on my workouts and eating today!  Layla and I did our 3 miles this am and another 2 after dinner.   That plus all the other dogs that I walked in between made for a pretty good day.  I hadn’t worked out since Friday, so I am a little surprised I have lost. I am still trying to eat between 1400-1500 calories a day but lately I have been falling at about 1300.  I am trying not to go too low because I am very active during the day and know that my body needs the fuel.

My youngest daughter is graduating from Pre-K on June 5th, so I have set a goal to lose 13 more lbs by then.  That is about 7 weeks away, so I am aiming for 2lbs per week.  I know that is doable, I just need to be consistant.

Hope all you fellow slimmers are doing well!  And thank you everyone for the wonderful boosters, they really make my day :)
